ChatGPT hastily closed Sky Voice facility after Scarlett lodged complaint
OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has been served with a legal notice for allowing customers to use the 'exactly fake voice' of Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson without her consent. In a statement on National Public Radio, the actress said that OpenAI asked for permission to use her voice for the new version of ChatGPT, the Four-O chatbot, a synthetic version of his voice was used despite the request being denied.
Reacting to the incident, he was extremely 'angry' and 'shocked', saying she was 'shocked' to find the 'amazing' similarity between her own voice and the artificial voice used.
In the statement, Scarlett said, “In September last year, the CEO of OpenAI sent me a proposal. He wanted to use my voice for the ChatGPT four-o system. According to him, through this, a bridge will be built between tech companies and creative people. And it will be convenient for customers and users as well.”
Meanwhile, OpenAI hastily shut down ChatGPT's 'Sky' voice mode feature soon after Scarlett complained.
Denying Scarlett Johansson's allegations, OpenAI said, 'We believe that a star's unique voice should not be intentionally imitated.' The voice used in Sky is not Scarlett Johansson's, but another professional actress. OpenAI has stopped using Sky Voice for development for the time being.
